Urgenda Climate Plan – Point 17: Tire pressure
Update February 2020
Together with over 800 organizations, Urgenda has expanded the 40-point plan into a 54-point plan.
Update 20 December 2019
“Supreme Court upholds Urgenda ruling: cabinet must cut emissions”.
Urgenda’s 40-point plan
On 24 June, four years after winning the climate case in The Hague, Urgenda and more than 700 organizations presented the 40-point plan and handed it over to the government. This plan contains 40 measures that show the government that it is possible to reduce CO2 emissions by 25% before the end of 2020. All measures together represent a reduction of 10 to 15 megaton CO2.
More about the climate case and the court ruling:
Presentation 40-point plan
The presentation of the measures took place in Diligentia in The Hague. The organizations behind the measures were given the opportunity to present themselves and explain the urgency of the measures. Although Coolado was not present, the Smart Tire Pump would have fitted in perfectly. Visitors could then have experienced immediately how easy the pump is to use.
Measure 27: Keep tires inflated
In order to help and encourage the government to reduce CO2 emissions by 25% by the end of 2020, all kinds of different measures are included in the 40-point plan. From large and expensive measures to simple ones that are easy and quick to implement. One of those measures, number 27, is to bring the tires up to the right pressure.
20/12/2019 – State loses Urgenda case at Supreme Court and must take extra CO2 measures.
“Other proposals to still achieve sufficient reduction are: not eating meat one day a week, 100,000 rented houses climate neutral, more subsidy for solar panels and simple measures such as switching off lights after working hours and keeping car tires inflated.”

Don’t stand on the sidelines yourself, but join parties that already support the measure.
If half of the motorists inflate their tires correctly every two months, this will save 0.2 Mton CO2 per year. It also saves 100 euros per year per car (or a total of 400 million euros!). By using Coolado’s smart tire pump, you can easily do your bit. In no time at all, you will be inflating your tires to the right pressure and helping to make the world a more sustainable place.
