WE TESTED THE TPUMP XL

We tested the Coolado tPump XL and compared its performance to that of the Coolado tPump X. During this comparison, you will clearly notice the difference between using pumps with 2 cylinders and pumps with only 1 cylinder. Currently, the Coolado tPump XL is the only cordless compressor on the market with 2 cylinders.

Pumps with 2 cylinders provide significantly better performance than pumps with only one cylinder. To demonstrate the significant difference in performance, we conducted the following tests.

• We inflated a city bike tire from 0 to 3 bar. The tPump XL, with its dual cylinder, completed this in just 12 seconds, while the tPump X with its single cylinder took 58 seconds.
• In addition, we inflated a 185/70/R14 car tire from 0 to 2.5 bar. The tPump XL, with its dual cylinder, completed this task in just 2 minutes and 30 seconds, while the tPump X, with its single cylinder, took 13 minutes and 7 seconds.
• With the tPump XL, it is possible to inflate as many as 4 car tires with just one battery charge. You can’t do this without the two cylinders.
• With just one battery charge, we were able to inflate as many as 65 bicycle tires.
• Charging a fully depleted battery took only 2 hours.

CAMPER TIRES

We also tested camper tires 215/70/R15 and frankly, only the Coolado tPump XL was able to inflate them in a reasonable amount of time. Inflating a tire with the tPump X was challenging and took us a long time. This does not mean that pumps with only one cylinder do not work for an RV tire, but they are just not very practical to use. It’s too slow.

These are the results of inflating the camper tire with the Coolado tPump XL.

• from 3 to 3.5 bar it took 0:59 min.
• from 4 to 4.5 bar it took 1:36 min.
• from 5 to 5.5 bar it took 2:44 min.

SPEED & PRESSURE

One disadvantage of the tPump XL is that most pumps have a maximum pressure of 10.3 bar, while the tPump XL can only deliver a maximum pressure of 6.9 bar. However, this does not pose a problem since there are very few situations where you need to pump up to 10.3 bar. For us, the pumping speed is much more important than the pressure the pump can generate. With a pressure of 6.9 bar, you can pump most tires without any problems.

KITE & AIR TENT

We tested the Coolado tPump XL to inflate a kite and air tent. In less than 4 minutes we inflated the 7-meter kite, while it took us about 6 minutes to inflate a tent for 4 people. Unfortunately, the tPump X, with its single cylinder, was unable to inflate these inflatable items. To inflate kites and air tents, you need optional SUP adapters.

CONCLUSION 

Wireless compressors with 2 cylinders, such as the tPump XL, while more expensive, are also so much better. The performance speaks for itself and justifies the price.
